How to Play Jurassic Pixel
Diets, stamina, bleed versus armor, class abilities, and the fight-or-flee call on 50-player servers.
Jurassic Pixel is a growth-and-combat loop, not a collectathon. You spawn, eat the diet your animal actually accepts, manage yellow stamina, watch the red bleed bar, and decide whether this fight is food or a reset. The game released on 18 March 2025 on Roblox. Play is online on servers of up to 50 players. There is no local split-screen. If you still need spawn order and the two free starters, use Getting Started. This page is the rules of a life once you are moving.
Buttons live on Controls. Ranked adults live on the PvP tier list. This article is the decision layer: what the HUD is telling you, which class tools matter, and when running is the skill.
The core survival loop
Every life repeats the same four jobs.
- Stay on diet. Omnivores such as Gallimimus can use plants and meat. Carnivores must hunt. Herbivores can live on plants, which is why the DNA route favors them. A hungry adult is slower to heal, easier to panic, and more likely to take a stupid fight.
- Keep water in the bar. Drink on the shoreline, not in the middle of a contested lake, unless you are Spinosaurus and you want the water as a weapon.
- Grow to age 100 if you are not already adult. DNA and combat stats both scale with age. A half-grown T-Rex is still a T-Rex silhouette. It is not a T-Rex.
- Spend stamina on purpose. Yellow stamina is sprint, chase, and many abilities. Empty yellow in the open is how 250 HP animals die.
KOS is the default public-server mood. Assume an unknown adult is hungry. Pack up only with people in voice. Random “friendly” emotes are bait. How to Survive covers hiding, packs, and map edges. Here, treat every approach as a combat problem until it is not.
Food is not a side activity. Gallimimus should never contest a carcass under a 2,000 HP carnivore. Velociraptor should never 1v1 an adult Triceratops. Parasaurolophus should sing with other Paras instead of trading bites with Therizinosaurus. Diet plus positioning beats a better stat sheet that is standing in the wrong biome.
Diets, stamina, bleed, and armor
Read the HUD or you will die confused. Health is the obvious bar. Attack, Defense, and Speed are the sheet numbers. Yellow is stamina. Red is bleed. If you mix yellow and red, you will sprint while you are already dying.
Stamina is the budget for run, swim burst, and many class tools. Carnotaurus charge, Giganotosaurus triple dash (zero stamina cost on that dash, which is why it is scary), raptor latch chases, and most retreats spend yellow. Do not dump the bar to look busy. Leave enough to break line of sight. If yellow is empty and you are in the open, you already lost.
Bleed is delayed damage from teeth and claws. Armor reduces how much of that stick you take. That is why a 15-damage Gallimimus with 0 armor feels paper, and why Ankylosaurus at 120 armor can ignore chip that shreds a Therizinosaurus at 5 armor. Ceratosaurus is the teaching example: 20 armor at rest, 52 while chuffing. If you fight a Cera during chuff, you are hitting a different animal. Hold-Space variants and the F key are listed on Controls.
Rough class reads:
- Speed animals (Gallimimus run 63, Indoraptor run 52, raptor run 42) win by not being there. They lose if they trade.
- Armor animals (Ankylosaurus 120, Stegosaurus 35, Triceratops 30, Ceratosaurus 20/52) win by standing still correctly. They lose if you kited them out of stamina.
- Damage animals (T-Rex 360, Indominus 350, Deinocheirus 320, Triceratops 280) win committed trades. They lose if they miss the slam or charge and eat a punish.
- Glass animals (Therizinosaurus 1,500 HP, 5 armor, puncture about 1,000 at age 100) win first-hit burst. They lose extended fights and anything that can charge through the puncture.
HP numbers only matter with context. Brachiosaurus at 8,100 HP is a farm animal with 5 armor and run 15, not an arena king. Ankylosaurus at 1,800 HP and 120 armor will outlast animals that “outstat” it on a spreadsheet. Check the herbivore roster and carnivore roster before you treat HP as a tier list.
Class abilities and when to fight
Abilities are why two 900 HP animals play differently. Use them as win conditions, not as decorations.
- Gallimimus: kick plus jump. Create space, hop terrain, leave. You do not duel apexes.
- Velociraptor: latch. Pack tool. Solo latch onto an adult is a highlight reel for them.
- Ceratosaurus: chuff. Armor jumps to 52. Hold the variant, then trade.
- Carnotaurus: charge at run 39. Gap closer and punish on animals that turn slowly.
- Parasaurolophus: sing-heal other Paras. Worthless as a 1v1 plan, strong as a group.
- Stegosaurus: 200 damage, 35 armor, run 25. Side-on trades. Do not chase.
- Ankylosaurus: tail spin, 260 damage, 120 armor, run 14. Let people come to you. Spin when they commit.
- Triceratops: charge. This is the Therizinosaurus answer. Face the puncture, do not show flank.
- Therizinosaurus: puncture about 1,000 at age 100. Open on unarmored targets. Do not stand in a Trike charge.
- T-Rex: slam, 360 damage, 10 armor. Commit when the slam will land. Missed slam is your death window.
- Spinosaurus: semi-aquatic, neck snap execute under 400 HP. Pull wounded animals into water. Do not dry-land marathon a Galli.
- Giganotosaurus: triple dash at 0 stamina. Cost in the shop is unlisted; community talk sits near 5,000 DNA. The dash is the whole kit. If you cannot land it, you are a slow 2,300 HP target.
- Deinocheirus: slam, 2,800 HP, 320 damage. Heavy trades. 90-minute growth, so do not donate it.
- Brachiosaurus: stomp, 8,100 HP, 15 run. Farm and punish people who bite ankles. You are not a duelist.
- Indominus (Albino Terror): camouflage and drag slam. Limited. See How to Get Indominus.
- Indoraptor (Pitch Black Reaper): 3-second ghost invis, run 52. Limited assassin, not a tank.
Mosasaurus was removed. It used to cost 10,000 DNA. There is no water-main apex left with that name. Spino is the semi-aquatic plan now.
Fight when you have diet, stamina, and a win condition: execute threshold, charge angle, pack latch, armor chuff, or a target already bleeding red. Flee when any of those is missing. A 360-damage T-Rex that is empty yellow in the open loses to a 125-damage Carno that still has a charge. Ego is not a class ability.
Fleeing, packing, and server sense
Fleeing is a route, not a straight line. Break line of sight through trees, drop a ridge, enter water only if your animal can use it. Gallimimus should already be gone. Raptors should scatter and regroup, not chain-latch a lost fight. Herbivores should turn toward the attacker only if the kit is a charge or tail spin; otherwise they walk into cover and wait bleed out.
Pack play is Velociraptor’s real mode and a force multiplier on Paras sing. It is not “stand near a random adult and hope.” Call targets, latch together, leave together. One greedy raptor feeds the server. Details and KOS habits are in How to Survive.
Server sense: 50-player publics are hunting grounds. Tiny or private servers are for growth and DNA. If your goal is a shop animal, do not practice the combat loop on a packed public as a baby. Grow, then fight. If your goal is PvP, bring an adult from the PvP tier list and still treat every third-party as the real threat. The animal that wins the 1v1 and dies to the spectator wasted the life.
Spend DNA on a route after you understand these loops. How to Grind DNA is the shop order. Hybrids cover limiteds. Updates catch kit changes after a patch. Play the loop, not the highlight.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What do the red and yellow bars mean?
Yellow is stamina for sprint and many abilities. Red is bleed, delayed damage that armor reduces. Device keys for abilities are on Controls.
When should I fight instead of run?
Fight when diet, stamina, and a win condition are all present: execute threshold, charge angle, pack latch, or armor chuff. Otherwise leave. Pack habits are in How to Survive.
Which class is easiest to learn the loop on?
Gallimimus for movement and diet, then Ceratosaurus or Carnotaurus at 700 DNA if you want combat. Spawn order is in Getting Started. Ranked adults are on the PvP tier list.
Does Mosasaurus still change water fights?
No. Mosasaurus was removed. Spinosaurus is the semi-aquatic fighter now. Confirm roster status on carnivores before you plan a water main.
